(Toronto, On) Top Gun Committee It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Shawn Green, known to most as Biggz or Bigga.  Shawn was well known in Toronto’s basketball community as a fierce and talented competitor. On Saturday June 21st, 2014,  he passed away playing the game he loved. He was 41 years old and a father of 6. His oldest, Tyrell, currently, plays at Hill College in Texas. Our utmost condolences go out to his family in this time of need. The family is asking for donations to help cover funeral expenses.  Donations can  be made to the family by contacting Mr. Green (Shawn’s father) at (416) 554 – 6980, Wilton Hall at (647) 828 – 5869, Sean Grant at (416) 817 – 2903, or Boz at(416) 909 – 1105.

The funeral is being held on July 5th 2014. As you can see that would be the Saturday of our tournament so the tournament committee met with his parents and family members and decided to cancel this year’s tournament and focus on giving our member a proper funeral. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but this passing of our member was sudden and a shock to all of us. We are going through our grieving process.

With the loss of our beloved committee and team member, we will be renaming the tournament in his honour. As of 2015, the new name of the tournament will be TG FOR LIFE Shawn Green Memorial Tournament. Thank you for your continued support as we go through our loss.

Also, on Monday June 30th a fundraiser for Shawn ‘Biggz’ Green will be held at Aura Lounge located at 4973 Yonge Street, North of Sheppard. DJ’s   include: DJ Ron C, Norman Smooth B Burgher, The Deejay Quincy and any other DJ’s that wish to play.
