Head Coach Roy Rana will lead Team Canada and be joined by assistant coaches Nathaniel Mitchell, Patrick Tatham, J.D. Jackson and Michael Meeks.

“Always honoured to answer the call to represent my country in international competition and I’m looking forward to the journey with our family on the floor,” said head coach Roy Rana.

With the first round of qualification now complete, the top three teams from Group B, Venezuela (5-1), Brazil (5-1) and Chile (1-5), and Group D, Canada (5-1), Dominican Republic (4-2) and U.S. Virgin Islands (2-4), will form Group F.  Canada will now face Venezuela, Brazil and Chile on a home and away basis.

“As the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers continue, the program depth we’ve been building over the years will be crucial for the success of our team,” said Rowan Barrett, Assistant GM/Executive VP, Senior Men’s Program.  “September’s games are an important step for Canada as we work towards our goal of qualifying for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.”

In the second round, the three highest-placed teams from each group and the best fourth placed team between Group E and Group F (a total of seven teams) will qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.
