TORONTO (February 15, 2023) – Canada Basketball announced Wednesday the 13 athletes participating in Senior Men’s National Team training camp next week ahead of the sixth and final window of the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers.

Canada will face Argentina on Thursday, February 23 (7:40 p.m. ET) at the Polideportivo Islas Malvinas in Mar del Plata, Argentina, before travelling to Caracas to close out the Qualifiers against Venezuela on Sunday, February 26 (7:10 p.m. ET) at the Poliedro de Caracas.  Both games will be broadcast live on Sportsnet.

The players attending training camp and participating in the sixth window of the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers are part of a broader Senior Men’s National Team player pool that has committed to representing Canada internationally over the course of the next several years in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

With an undefeated record of 10-0, and one of only two teams in the world without a loss in the Qualifiers, Canada has already punched their ticket for this summer’s FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023.  Canada (10-0) sits atop Group E followed by Venezuela (7-3), Dominican Republic (7-3), Argentina (7-3), Bahamas (3-7), and Panama (2-8).

Eighty national teams will play games across six qualifying windows to secure their place among the 30 teams who will join hosts Japan and the Philippines in the 32-team edition of FIBA’s flagship event.

In the Americas region, 16 teams will face off over two rounds with the three best teams from each group, and the fourth-placed team qualifying for the FIBA Men’s Basketball 2023 World Cup.  For additional information on the format of the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers, click here.
